The Cancer New Moon-Finding Your Peace

As we look at the astrology, -interpreting its impact on us as individuals, the question we should be asking is: How do we align ourselves with being receptive to the energies being reflected back to us?  Remember, the cosmos is not making anything happen.  It is a reflection of ourselves, of our internal landscape and what we are creating. I genuinely believe that by understanding our astrology we gain a better understanding of ourselves and of others.  As above, so below.

While astrology is interesting and fun, it is also providing us with instructions- a map to our fulfillment, peace and happiness. The thing is you can read directions, look at a map, but unless you actually act, you will accomplish nothing and go nowhere.  Astrology isn’t just a blueprint for our everyday lives, our careers, our relationships, our hardships and our blessings. It is also guidance for our life’s purpose and soul’s evolution.  Yet often we ignore what it is telling us, afraid to truly embody our authentic selves- resisting the deep work and self-reflection needed to truly nurture and care for ourselves. While self-care is essential- this isn’t just about surface level platitudes, a bubble bath or smelling the flowers.  It is asking for deep reflection, introspection and setting conscious intentions to align the mental and emotional bodies.

The New Moon occurring in the sign of Cancer on July 14th provides us with an opportunity to reflect on this. Looking at how we nurture ourselves, nurture others and what we might need to change.  Because this new moon is occurring in Cancer, its home sign there is a level of familiarity and comfort.  But that doesn’t mean it’s time to kick your shoes off and relax.  Remember that Cancer is the crab.  Cancer is the active, go getter, initiator of the water signs.  It retreats when it needs to, but also it pulls out the protective mama bear energy when necessary.

Every new moon is different.  The new moon in Cancer this year differs from ones in the past and the ones that will occur in the future.  While the general foundational significance of a Cancer New Moon will remain the same, it’s interactions with other placements change, shifting its overall impact on us.

So what else is happening in the sky, what does it mean and how do we work with it?  I am going to list here the key astrological placements I am considering in my interpretation.  If you don’t know the jargon,  no worries you don’t need to understand the technicalities for the interpretation that follows.

1.        Mercury retrograde conjunct the New Moon

2.       Venus in Virgo square Mars and Uranus in Gemini

3.       Jupiter in Leo opposing Pluto in Aquarius

So, what can we interpret from this?  We are being invited to reflect on what it means to comfort and nurture ourselves.  But there is an undercurrent of anxiety and perfectionism being asked of us that is making it difficult to relax.  A desire to fix and refix, the feeling that we just can’t get it right. Making the mistake of thinking that if it isn’t perfect, it isn’t right and needs to be changed.

It is important to understand that it is not about being perfect, but being willing to show up, enjoy and know when we are being too hard on ourselves.  Reflecting on where we have lost sight of the bigger picture and where do need to be ok with just letting our own light shine.   This could bring about feeling of having done our best but not being accepted by our community.  It is time to stop dimming yourself.  Allow yourself to be comfortable in your emotional body, to not be afraid to stand up for your peace.

New Moon Intentional Alignment- I honor my feelings as my truth, trust that I am safe to be vulnerable, and give myself permission to be seen without needing to be perfect.
