Demystifying Pallas-Athena: Strategy, Wisdom and Life
Last week I wrote an article that discussed Pallas-Athena, her myth, how it has changed over time and the energy that this asteroid/goddess brings to our lives. Today I want to simplify things and discuss what all of it means and why knowing the original telling of these myths is important to also understanding ourselves.
First a quick recap - In the original telling of her story she is described as being part of a tribe of woman; her analytical, strategic mind is a natural part of who she is and is learned as a way to help support and protect the group. Being caring and emotionally connected with others is not a hinderance to being practical but a reason for these qualities. In the retelling of her story the Greek myth describes her as being born straight from the head of Zeus. Coming straight from the mind, detached from emotion in this myth is the reason why she is practical, analytical, and great at reasoning. In both myths she has the same qualities, but by removing the connection to the tribe she loses part of her self and her wisdom.
Most are functioning from the Greek telling of the myth. We are conditioned to operate from our heads. Leading with intellect; detaching from our intuition and emotional bodies. Defining our worth through productivity and achievement. The issue is not being intellectual or high achieving- we should be proud of our own accomplishments and celebrate the accomplishments of others. The problem occurs when these achievements are obtained lacking emotional intelligence, compassion and empathy. When we function solely from our minds to shield ourselves from vulnerability and genuine connection is where problems occur- placing us in a state of hyper-vigilance, disconnected from ourselves and our true desires and needs.
In daily life Pallas-Athena is the intelligence that keeps us organized, safe and functional. She helps us with pattern recognition and problem solving. Allowing us to look at chaotic situations and find solutions. She provides us with mental clarity to set firm boundaries without allowing ourselves to get sucked into emotional drama, knowing when to speak, how to negotiate, and where to focus our energy.
From the Higher Self perspective, she recognizes that true intelligence does not disconnect from the heart or body. Instead of using logic to avoid vulnerability, she uses her logic to protect and honor what the heart holds sacred. She understands the interconnectedness of all things. Moving from an individualistic “survival of the fittest” mentality to understanding how her strategy supports the group. She understands cosmic laws, cycles and energetic blueprints. Using spiritual insights and intuition in a practical manner to honor herself and support others.
Without understanding her original myth Pallas- Athena’s intelligence is solely about survival, achievement and self-defense. But when we integrate the original tribal roots back into her story the everyday strategy helps us to connect with our soul’s deeper purpose.
When seeking to solve a problem instead of asking “How do I fix this?” Ask “What strategy most protects what I deeply care about?”
Reclaiming Pallas-Athena isn’t about throwing away our logic, strategy and wisdom. It is about knowing that we don’t have to disconnect from our emotions and community to embody these qualities. Understanding that they are meant to work together.
Knowing where Pallas-Athena sits in your chart reveals how your strategic mind naturally operates—both in your day-to-day life and in service of your higher purpose.
