First Impressions Matter: Understanding your Rising Sign

First what is the Rising Sign? Also known as the the Ascendant, the Rising is the sign that was coming up on the horizon when we were born.  It shows us how we navigate the world and the first impression that we give.  Often described as a mask however, this does not give it justice or speaks to the true essence of its purpose.  In this blog I want to take a look at the deeper connection and meaning behind our rising sign.  To not just see it as a mask, but to understand it in a way that gives us better insight into ourselves and others.

The rising sign signifies how we are meant to navigate through life.  Showing us not only how we are interacting with everyday life, but also our soul’s growth.  Who we are currently, and also who we are becoming and how we go about getting there. Think Manifestation!  By understanding our rising signs that we can better understand ourselves. Knowing for instance that you are a Libra Rising tells you that you are here to experience life through your relationships with others.  A Virgo Rising through analysis, work, understanding and processing of information, Gemini through relationships, knowledge and communication with others and so forth.  Understanding the planet that rules your rising sign and where that planet sits within the chart will provide more context.   We can gain a lot of wisdom through the rising sign.
